I am not usually enthralled easily when it come to new and random sniffs, but this here Honey Aoud has me all kinds of wound up. When does a house (Montale) take your three favorite notes and then buries a free kick that defies the laws of psychics- for the win? Never. Whenever I see three of my favorite notes in a pyramid, it’s never a home run, game-winning shot or anything to marvel at. Well, enough negativity,
What has recently arrived on my desk in my trans-Atlantic bag of goodies is Montale’s Honey Aoud. One of Montale’s 2,500 offerings.. I kid, what are we on 110? This is the first one I’ve taken to like a mosquito at a picnic.
This is why I love Honey Aoud it’s simple; honey, cinnamon, oud. There, that’s it, chuck everything else off the roof.Spoon full with honey – HD free images
The initial opening, I get a blast of oud- less Montale’s signature skank. Quite woodsy to start, but only for a few seconds. Honey does not hesitate on joining the oud, neither does the freshly, grounded up cinnamon.
All three of these notes play a one to two hour tug-o-war, duck, duck, goose match, with the oud always on the losing end of a 2 on 1 tug or the goose wandering aimlessly in the background. The oud could use a little boost, because the initial blast I could imagine, would have people humping on the grand boulevards of Paris,
In the heart, Honey Aoud gets a bit murky, it turns into an indescribable woody, sweet and spicy nuance. The cinnamon is still eye-watering good, as most good cinnamon occurrences in fragrance should always bring a tear to ones eye.
I think in a non descriptive bottle, masked the same way car manufacturers do their new prototypes, Honey Aoud would be a winner-winner-chicken dinner kind of fragrance. It’s not “overly” sweet, spicy, oudh-y, unless one is intolerant to honey, cinnamon or oud. I give Honey Aoud my “Must Sniff” stamp of approval for anyone who loves gourmands, humping in the streets of Paris, the aforementioned notes or simply things that smell damn good.
