I think us reviewers and enthusiast alike get so caught up in the scents that are; warm, cozy, happy, crowd pleasing, and these scents tend to evoke the same feeling upon their wearers. Well, Chanel Number 19 is the opposite of all that.
Chanel No. 19 immediately conjures up images of dank forest floors and herb gardens. It’s cold by nature, uninviting, and even mean. It could easily be the signature scent of Cruella de Vil. As I said, some fragrances are warm and inviting, but No 19 is don’t-fuck-with-me. It’s a cold barrier between you and everyone else, a glare without any expression or change in demeanor.
So, why would anyone want to smell like cold, dank, forest floors and herbs? I was immediately taken back by No 19, I’ve never encountered a fragrance so GREEN and COLD, sure some of the fragrances in my collection have green notes combined with warmer essentials, but No. 19 plays on my skin – as green, herbal, green, floral, and then, green-woody. At any point, it smells as if I rolled around in the grass, when the morning dew has yet to be warmed by the rising Sun. Even more weird, I get a wet-joint vibe from No. 19, yes, that other grass, hmmph, maybe it’s just me?
